The Publish feature is currently in Beta and only available upon request. Get in touch with your Luna account team for more information.

For general instructions on how to upload creatives to ad networks from Creative Suite, including steps for first-time setup, please read our Publish guide. In this article we'll be detailing the requirements, limitations and any other information relating specifically to uploading creatives to Facebook.

Important note for Playable uploads

Facebook does not support uploading playable creatives to Business asset libraries. You can only upload playables to an Ad Account asset library from Creative Suite.

You will also need to ensure the Facebook user you use to create your Connection is an Admin on the Business Manager instance associated with the Ad Account(s) you wish to upload playables to.

When uploading creatives to Facebook from Creative Library you can choose between the following two options:

Uploading to a Business Manager instance

When Business is selected, you will be asked to select a Business Manager instance linked to your connected Facebook account. Upon publishing, your creatives will be uploaded to the selected Business' Asset Library in the Business Creatives section. Those creatives can be used directly from that library or from within Facebook Ad Manager as part of the Ad creation workflow.

This is useful if you want your creatives to be stored in a single place on Facebook, approved once and accessible in any Ad Account connected to your Business. For these reasons, we highly reccomend uploading creatives using this method.

Usage

  • Creatives uploaded to your Facebook Business Asset Library from Creative Suite will be named according to a fixed convention (<Creative ID>_<Creative Name>)

  • When uploading creatives, Creative Suite will automatically create folders in your Business Asset Library for each of your Apps in Creative Library. These will be named according to a fixed convention (Luna Creatives - <App Name>)

Requirements

  • Your Facebook Connection in Creative Suite must have been created in or after November 2022. If it was not, please remove your Facebook Connection in your company settings (Admin users only) and add a new one by reconnecting your Facebook account

  • The connected Facebook user must have an employee or admin role on the Business you wish to upload to and have the neccessary permissions to add creatives to your Business creatives library

Limitations

  • Currently, Facebook only supports upload of Video and Image creative assets to the Business Asset Library. For this reason, Playables cannot be uploaded using the Business publish option and will be greyed out when publishing playable creatives in Creative Library

  • You cannot set the name of the creative or the folder it is uploaded to in your Business Asset Library from Creative Suite

Uploading to an individual Ad Account

When Ad Account is selected, you will be asked to select a Facebook Ad Account that your connected Facebook account can access with editing permissions. Upon publishing, your creatives will be uploaded to the selected Ad Account's asset library. Those creatives can be used directly within Facebook Ad Manager as part of the Ad creation workflow for that Ad Account only.

We reccomend instead using the Business upload method detailed where possible.

Usage

  • Creatives uploaded to your Facebook Business Asset Library from Creative Suite will be named according to a fixed convention (<Creative ID>_<Creative Name>)

Requirements

  • The connected Facebook user must have a read/write role on the Ad Account you wish to upload to

  • If you're uploading playables, you must use a Facebook Connection that was added to your Creative Suite account in 2023 onwards. Older accounts do not have the neccessary permissions in Facebook for us to upload creatives

  • If you're uploading playables, your Ad Account must be linked to a Business that your connected Facebook user has the admin role on. This is so that we can create and use a service user to upload playables to your ad account, as required by Facebook's API policy.

Limitations

  • Playable uploads will only function when the Facebook Ad Account you wish to upload to is associated with your Facebook Business Manager instance as an asset. Furthermore, the Facebook user you use to login to Facebook and create your Connection in Creative Suite must be an admin on that Business Manager instance in Facebook.

This is due to Facebook's own API requirements.
